Course Eligibility

  • Must be unemployed or employed, but able to commit to a full 8 week training program (daily hours Mon-Fri)
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Learners must be aged 19 or older on or before 31 August 2025
  • Must not have taken part in another Skills Bootcamp within the current financial year (April 2025 to current date)
  • Have lived in England for at least the last three consecutive years (with the exception of Ukrainian citizens, who would be eligible regardless of timescale)
  • Cannot be in any other full time education
  • Experience or previous training in Early Years setting or similar
  • Open to residents within Liverpool City Region
  • Course Description

    This Skills Bootcamp includes a DBS, a Work Experience Placement and a Guaranteed Job Interview! 

    This is an Eight Week Course & Includes the Below Qualifications:

    • L3 Paediatric First Aid
    • L3 Learning Beyond the Classroom
    • Level 3 Certificate for Early Years Special Educational Needs

    Week 1 – Child Development, Safeguarding & Self-Regulation  

    Milestones (typical and atypical), scaffolding behaviour and emotional literacy 
    Safeguarding practice, policy, and procedure in Early Years  
    DBS application process  

    Week 2 – Inclusive Learning & Communication  

    SEND Code of Practice, Makaton, and Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)  
    Adapting EYFS provision for inclusivity
    Understanding Special Educational Needs and the Early Years SENCO role in PVI settings  

    Week 3 – 1:1 and Small Group SEND Support  

    Building rapport and applying the key person role  
    Delivering structured interventions  
    Supporting colleagues working with children with SEN  
    Liaising with professionals and external agencies  

    Week 4 – Communication and Maths Champion Skills  

    Supporting Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)  
    Embedding play-based early numeracy  
    Effective SEN/EYE communication strategies 

    Week 5 – Making the EYFS Fully Inclusive  

    Adapting all 7 areas of the EYFS for accessibility  
    Sensory play approaches  
    Using visual scheduling to support learning

    Week 6 – Outdoor Learning and Placement Preparation  

    Forest School and outdoor SEND learning strategies  
    Integrating SEND needs into lesson/activity planning  
    Placement induction and expectations for 18-hour practical work placement  

    Week 7 – Employability Skills and Interview Preparation  

    CV writing tailored to Early Years SEND roles  
    Preparing for interviews with a SEND focus  
    Mock interviews and feedback  
    Collating placement evidence logs  

    Week 8 – Paediatric First Aid and Progression Planning  

    Level 3 Paediatric First Aid training and certification  
    Final learner showcase  
    Career progression planning into SEND, Early Years, and apprenticeships  

    Course Delivery:
    Course Start Date: Monday 10th November 2025
    Course Duration: 8 Weeks
    Blended Learning: The course is delivered online as 3 sessions per week over Microsoft Teams.  However, the first 2 days and the final 2 days are delivered face to face in Liverpool city centre, L1 3AY (to cover registration, DBS application etc and paediatric first aid training).

    For the course, you will need either a laptop, desktop computer or a tablet with a keyboard. Devices must be compatible with Microsoft Teams.
