Course Eligibility

  • Candidates need to be 19 or older as of 31st August 2023
  • Must live in Lancashire 
  • Resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
  • Must be unemployed or earning less than £20,319 PA
  • Can be in receipt of benefits or not (UC/JSA OR ESA) 
  • Must have access to either a tablet, laptop or PC
  • Can not be in any other form of training or education 

Course Description

Interested in becoming a Teaching Assistant? You’re at the right place!

This is a online remote learning course for residents of Lancashire, where you will study Support Work in School, this Level 2 qualification will provide an introduction to the skills, qualities and knowledge that may be required for employment.

On competition of your L2 Support work in Schools we are also offering a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism PLUS Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Distressed Behaviour in Children.

You will study online one day a week on Wednesdays from the 3rd April, for a duration of 9 weeks. 

Successful completion will gain you the following qualifications:

  • Pearson Edexcel Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools
  • NOCN Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills
  • CPD Accredited SEND

  • Unit 1 Child And Young Person Development
  • Unit 2 Safeguarding The Welfare Of Children & Young People
  • Unit 3 Communication & Professional Relationships With Children, Young People & Adults
  • Unit 4 Equality, Diversity & Inclusion In Work & Children And Young People
  • Unit 5 Schools As Organisation 

Autism Contents Covered:

  • Common traits & Diagnosis of Autism spectrum
  • Sources of information, support, legislation and guidance relevant to Autism spectrum
  • Living with Autism spectrum conditions
  • Best practise with living with Autism spectrum conditions

Distressed Behaviours in Children Contents Covered:

  • Awareness of distressed behaviour in children
  • Principles of intervention when working with children who display distressing behaviours
  • Distressed behaviours and mental health in children
  • Distressed behaviour, sensory processing conditions and Autism spectrum conditions in children
  • Legislation and guidance for an individual providing support for children displaying distressing behaviours
