Course Eligibility

  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Learners must be aged 19 or older on or before 31 August 2024
  • Have lived in the UK for at least the last three consecutive years
  • Funding is available to adults in England who earn less than the National Living Wage annually (£18,525) or are unemployed. This is regardless of their prior qualification level
  • Cannot be in any other full time education
  • Must live within Greater London Authority

Course Description

Our funded Level 3 qualification provides a solid Introduction to Software Development. It is the perfect pathway to progress your Software Development skills to get into the workplace or to advance to the Level 5 Diploma in Full Stack Development.

This course is aimed at residents of East London, however, it is open to anyone who lives within Greater London Authority, providing you meet with the eligibility criteria.

What you will learn:

  • Project Management – Learners on our Introduction to Software Development course will experience the concepts, processes, and tools used to manage IT projects.
  • JavaScript – Learners will develop an understanding of this key element of software development, using JavaScript to build interactive web pages.
  • Maths for Computing – Learners will gain the fundamental maths skill needed in software development.
  • Object Oriented Programming – Learners will examine the features, tools and techniques of object-oriented programming and use a structured approach to the design and development of a program.
  • Programming Implementation – Our Introduction to Software Development course will familiarise learners with the underpinning concepts of programming and how it is implemented with Python.
  • Robot Technology – Learners will develop the skills to design and develop a program to control a robot.
  • Software Testing – Learners will understand the testing stages of software development from planning to acceptance and how automation can be applied to software testing.
  • Careers Support – Learners from our Introduction to Software Development course will benefit from on demand careers support, to help with their pathway into tech, writing their tech CV and cover letter.

Entry Requirements for Introduction to Software Development:

Learners must complete the free 5 Step Coding Challenge and demonstrate the skills and ability to study at Level 3. Learners should have a good standard of English and Maths and be over 19 years of age.

  • Comprehensive Curriculum: Covers fundamental to advanced data analytics techniques, including AI tools.
