Course Eligibility

  • Must be unemployed or employed, but able to commit to a 8 week training program, three days a week (Weds, Thurs & Fri)
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Learners must be aged 19 or older on or before 31 August 2025
  • Must not have taken part in another Skills Bootcamp within the current financial year (April 2025 to current date)
  • Have lived in England for at least the last three consecutive years (with the exception of Ukrainian citizens, who would be eligible regardless of timescale)
  • Cannot be in any other full time education
  • Open to residents within Greater London Authority who can travel to Islington
  • Course Description

    This Skills Bootcamp includes a DBS, a Work Experience Placement and a Guaranteed Job Interview! 

    We are proud to offer the Early Years Education and Teaching Assistant Skills Bootcamp in partnership with The Mayor of London, a fully funded opportunity designed to support people across London into rewarding, long-term careers working with children.

    This 8-week programme combines online and in-person learning, giving you the skills, confidence, and experience to make a difference in your local community. The course is open to residents of Greater London, who are able to travel to Islington for the classroom element.

    Learners must have access to a minimum of a Tablet or Laptop to access the course info. A smart phone will not be compatible.

    What you will learn:

    • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid
    • Introduction to Jean Piaget theory of development
    • The importance of play and creativity
    • Employability – Job readiness
    • Introduction to safeguarding within an early year setting
    • Health and safety within an early year setting and policies that should be present and followed
    • What is pedagogy – an introduction of pedagogy in early years
    • Trauma-informed practice
    • Manual handling

    The goal is to connect you directly with employers who value your passion and potential. Every learner is guaranteed a practical work placement and interview. You will be supported throughout with personalised career guidance and employability coaching.

    This Skills Bootcamp offers you a unique, direct path to a accelerated level 3 apprenticeship, saving you up to 3 months of learning time and helping you start your dream role much faster.

    Course Duration: 8 Weeks
    Blended Learning: The majority of learning will be online, however, some days are required in person. All sessions will take place on Weds, Thurs and Fri per week. Please see schedule below:
